Western Bioacoustics is a small, veteran-owned consulting firm specializing in avian and bioacoustic research and monitoring. We have over 50 years combined experience working in the field of wildlife biology, acoustics, sound level measurements, and assessing impacts on wildlife resources.
We have conducted sound level measurements and wildlife studies in some of the quietest places in the United States. We were involved in initial measurements in National Parks in an effort to determine existing ambient and baseline ambient sound levels in order to assess impacts of anthropogenic sounds on resources. This work involved sound level measurements in remote places with little human activity for long periods of time, and consequently very low sound levels.
We have pioneered advances in equipment for remote recording units (both audio and video) and have been involved in developing important methodology and protocols for acoustic data collection in remote locations.
